of a complete mosquito control program.

To the left is a picture of the
backyard of an unoccupied residence in Jamestown. The former occupants
had done some landscaping and had left an unfinished pond. The pond had
collected rain water and dew and was full of mosquito larva. Vector Control
had some help finding this breeding site.
Get rid of any standing
water in your yard !!

To the right is one of our New

light traps, which we use to get our female mosquito count. |

The picture to the left is the field crew on the
James River looking for backwaters holding larva. We at the Jamestown Vector
Control office are out looking for mosquito larva and possible breeding
sites when we are not larviciding known sites or out with the sprayers
adulticiding.

To the right are Mosquito larva swimming
in water dipped out of a ditch along Interstate, near Exit 256.
Some are hanging from the surface
and others are wiggling, the ones that look like little letter 'o's.
That is where the name wigglers
comes from.
