Voter Information
Voter Qualification:

In order to vote in North Dakota, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years old on the day of an election
  • A North Dakota Resident
  • A resident in the precinct for 30 days preceding the election.

Voter Registration:

North Dakota is the only state in the Union that does not require voters to register. A voter, however, must meet the requirements listed under "Voter Qualifications" in order to vote in the state.

Absentee Ballots:

Qualified voters who will be absent from their precincts, who are physically disabled, or who are members of the U.S. armed forces or merchant marine may vote an absentee ballot at any general, special, or primary state election, at any county election, or at any city or school district election. An absentee voter application may be obtained from the County Auditor.
