Residential Homes

Jamestown has a total of 6,770 residences with 4,453 of them being single family dwellings. At present, more than 150 residential building lots and approximately 100 homes are for sale. The average sale price of a three bedroom house in 2005 was $85,590. Six mobile home parks provide additional housing with 570 total lots.

Rental Homes and Apartments

House rental rates are $295 and up per month for a two bedroom and $500 and up per month for a three bedroom home (with utilities being extra). Apartments range from $235 and up a month for a one bedroom, to $400 and up for two bedrooms and $475 and up for three bedrooms.

There are a number of apartments and townhouses being constructed in Jamestown for sale or rent. The prices vary depending on size.

Stutsman County Housing Authority

Low-income families, elderly persons and handicapped individuals can get help paying their housing costs through the Stutsman County Housing Authority. The rental assistance program sets certain income limits according to the family size, but persons cannot be rejected for other reasons.

Rental assistance can be used in any type of privately-owned housing in Stutsman County:  houses, duplexes, apartments and mobile homes. Total housing costs cannot exceed fair market rent limits as set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
